- Queen conch surveys have been conducted on various fishing grounds in The Bahamas since 2009, with previous efforts primarily focused on shallow and mid-depth areas. Given the extensive nature of The Bahamas- fishing grounds, surveys to date have only covered a fraction of the national shelf area. Furthermore, very limited work has been conducted in deeper habitats, where conch may also occur. Previously surveyed locations are also due for reassessment. New surveys using up-to-date methods will contribute to a broader understanding of stock status and are important for informing fishery management decisions.
